Never use Microsoft's "ONE NOTE" app

I came up with the most unexpected and bizzare experiences on updating my one note to latest version.
Since it was an auto update on wi-fi, i did not know which version it was previously on.
After the update all my notes got disappeared. I searched every possible section of the app but there was nothing left.
I lost my passwords, important daily notes about my work and personal stuff.
It was quite painful.
Back in the past, this ‘One Note’ app looked very promising and had many features so i had copied all notes from my previous notes manager app and pasted in One Note. After being happy with initial use of one note, i decided to uninstall the previous note manager. I shouldn’t have done that.
One note was around 65-70 MB and my previous notes manager was just 5 MB
One Note use to eat up a lot of RAM and if left open i couldn't use any other app leaving the phone in a hung up state.
On checking the microsoft’s forum, did not get any considerable help to recover my lost notes.
Lost trust in Microsoft and therefore moved on to another less heavier app.

Roger Federer's MAGIC 20

Roger Federer having not lost a single set in the 1st 6 matches of the Australian open 2018 looked to be the strong favourite in the final. On the other hand, Marin Cilic having had his bit of struggles and a lucky win against Rafa(retired from QF 5th set due to hip injury) was the underdog!
Federer, wasting no time raced away with 2 consecutive breaks in the 1st set to a 4–0 lead and then winning the 1st set 6–1. Enough to break the confidence of any player with that score and the approach and aggressive way of tennis by Federer in the 1st set. 2nd set had some fight by Cilic having 2 set points but couldn’t convert and then Federer forcing a tiebreaker but Cilic capitalized on the 3rd set point to win the tie break 7–5. Cilic looked pumped but Federer steamrolled Cilic in just 29 minutes to take away the 3rd set. Having a 3–0 lead in the 4th set it looked Federer all the way but then Cilic bounced back like a tiger and fought a match of his life to break Federer twice and won 6 games in a row and thus sealed the 4th set and took the match to a Decider.
But it was not just Cilic v. Federer. If you saw the match you will see Cilic v. Federer + the crowd. Federer had a huge support from the crowd whenever he was winning the points but Cilic hardly got any cheer for his points. It was a strong start for Cilic in the 5th as he was hitting winners and playing aggressive ground strokes. He had a break point in the very 1st game Federer serving but Federer somehow escaped winning that game. Federer was quite fortunate with the line calls but not Cilic as most of his strucked balls were in but called out and when challenged, the ball was in but he had to replay the point. That’s a little unfair. If you remember Federer v. Kyrgios - Miami 2017 SF final set tie break, Kyrgios was leading 5–4 and then someone from the crowd made a line call which was disruptive and Kyrgios brain faded thought it was a call by the umpire and eventually lost that point. at 5–5 Kyrgios with his usual problem of mood change in between the match couldn’t take it and from there he lost the match losing the tie break 7–5. But yes the crowd was very demotivating for Cilic as he hardly got any crowd support. I mean come on he is world no.6(world no.3 now) and he has been in top 10 for quite a long time now. The 2nd game of the 5th set was the confidence breaker for Cilic and from there he lost the match. Before the match i thought 90 minutes and 3 sets Federer but Cilic was not a complete underdog having thrashed Federer in the US open 2014 SFs in straight sets. So he had the ability and the experience.
Have to give credit to Federer’s immense level of fitness to win grand slams and play 5 setters at 36. Something unimaginable and its completely magic to win a grand slam at 30+. After winning the AO 2010 he said his ultimate goal would be to win 20 slams but that started looking a big deal once we saw the rise of Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic. He didn’t win a slam in 2011 but won the wimbledon like a king in 2012. People started questioning his fitness and age when he couldn’t win any slams in 2013. In 2014 lost wimbledon final to Djokovic in 5 sets. In 2015 he showed some massive signs of returning to world no.1 in the 2nd half after reaching finals of wimbledon and US open but couldn’t win. Djokovic edged him though for the Year end no.1 in 2015. 2016 was an unlucky year for Federer as he was out of action for most of the year and shut his season after wimbledon. Federer with a perfect plan of which tournaments to play and which not who knows if he surpasses Serena’s record of 23 slams? :)

PADMAAVAT movie review

Saw this movie FDFS.
Will directly speak on the positives and the negatives of the film
  1. Performance wise Jim Sarbh is the best with his Malik Gafoor character. Ranveer has done a good job with his psychopath villainous Khilji Character but sometimes you will see the Bajirao and Bittu(his past characters) in him. He has performed a ‘hot villain’ performance in the Khali Bali song. Shahid has done a decent job. Deepika is just ok nothing great. Aditi has done a good job in her short role as Alauddin’s wife. The Raaghav Chetan character’s performance was also quite good.
  2. You wont see the marvellousness in the film sets as Karni Sena had destroyed the sets in Rajasthan(Initially where the film was being shot). So sets are not that delightful as in usual SLB movies but still not bad.
  3. VFX is worst in the 1st half and just under average in 2nd half. The scene where Ranveer arrests an Ostrich and brings in the Khilji kingdom has the weakest VFX. Also the jungle scene is not good.
  4. Khilji’s Gay character is not focussed in the film but SLB has used it well.
  5. There is a 10 minute Jauhar scene in the climax which also has a not good VFX and somehow the makers have tried to make this scene as dramatic as possible but its too long and it will bore you in the end.
  6. One more disgusting point is that this movie showcases the greatness of Rajputs. Every now and then you will hear ‘Rajput this’, ‘Rajput that’. Not sure if this was originally made like this or the makers modified the movie to a Rajput version due to the controversies.
  7. Story is not the original Padmavati story but its partially based on the poem ‘Padmavat’ by Mohammed Jayasi. But the story is good. Movie is watchable. Overall good but not great.
Personally speaking i was expecting a more villainous and skillful Khilji. Must watch for the Rajputs. Must watch for Karni sena.
Rating: 3.5/5

Youtube - Not for the Part Timers anymore!

By reading the title you might have got many questions in your head!
But yes, its a harsh fact that you really cant be a part time youtuber. Youtube doesn’t say so but it most likely means the same.
In the past few years, there were many channels created on Youtube. Many channels where copied content were uploaded which use to cause losses to the original makers. Many channels uploaded inappropriate content like there are many channels which feature kids and the videos are not suitable for the advertisers to choose from the list of videos on which they want to play their ads on.
Previously, the moment you created your channel you could monetize your videos and ads would appear and in the subsequent months you would earn some money but in Apr-17, Youtube came up with a 10,000 views threshold on the channel to be eligible for monetizing your videos. Youtube basically didn’t want the fake, inappropriate, abusive and unoriginal content featuring channels to become Youtube partners but 10k views was not a big barrier and it didn’t prevent them from stopping. Since Jio’s inception in India, Youtube witnessed a lot of humongous number of new channels which crossed 10k views and they hardly earned $100 in 1 year. Many of those channels earned just $2–2.5 every month.
Advertisers boycotted Youtube in 2017 as they saw many of their ads were being played on inappropriate videos and channels that had a very low traffic.
Since Advertisers are more important for the Youtube business, Youtube has now come up with a new rule that new channels should have 1000 subscribers minimum and in the past 12 months the channel should have 4000hrs of watch time just to be eligible for monetization.
4000hrs makes it 2,40,000 minutes of watch time. Now say if the average video retention period is 1 minute on your channel, then you must cross 2,40,000+ views in the past 12 months.
Its not like you accumulate 1 lifetime 4000hrs of watch time in 2 or 3 years and you can apply for monetisation. They will check the watch time for past 12 months. Not a worry for the big youtubers as they get these many videos from their single video itself.
Even if you become eligible for monetisation and your monetisation turns on, you are not yet safe. You will still have to generate 4000hrs of watch time every subsequent 12 months to keep your videos monetised. And if you dont achieve this, Youtube will turn off your monetisation and the reason being low traffic. Beware as you cannot use bots to generate watch time as you cant cheat Youtube. They will detect it some day soon and your channel will be deleted from youtube.
So its a big gamble. This rule will take down the small channels and also will demotivate new creators on the platform.
If you are planning for a part time youtube career, you are risking your time because its not as easy as creating videos in free time and upload. Its not as easy as ‘You need that 1 video that goes viral’ and gives your channel a shoot up. Its more about how you play by the Youtube rules, policies, copyright issues, community guidelines. And all this managing in part time is near to impossible.
I am not demotivating you but yes you can give it a try :)

Indian Viners be like!

‘Vine’ is the word which is a latest Youtube buzz in India but few of the people know about this term.
Everywhere people as soon as they hear this term, they think its ‘Wine(alcohol)’
I once said to a Sales representative in an electronics showroom that i need a good DSLR as i make vines for my channel on youtube and he was like ‘Oh so you have a food and beverage channel? and you make alcohol stuff and post it on Youtube? wow! thats cool!’
Vine means ‘short and funny videos’ and Viner means ‘people who make and upload short funny videos on internet’
Coming to the vine industry in India, it is still not very well known but it has shown a huge market growth in India for some top Indian youtubers like Ashish Chanchlani, Harsh Beniwal, Bhuwan Bam, Mostly Sane, Hasley India, Be Younick, etc
These people are the visionaries of vine market on the Internet for India as they were inspired mostly from Logan Paul, Amanda Cerny, etc other International Youtube stars
If you look at Ashish Chanchlani’s vine channel logo it is almost the same as of Amanda Cerny’s
Ashish Chanchlani is well known for making vines on ‘That Friend who always………..’
BB ki Vines is known for his in-house videos with 12+ different characters all played by him with marvellous level of scripting and humor.
Be YouNick does make videos with professional cinematography and editing but the content is not great
Harsh Beniwal is very good in experimenting with his content.
Mostly Sane and Hasley India always keep on uploading stuff like
  1. Types of Boyfriends
  2. Types of Girlfriends
  3. Types of Ex-boyfriends
  4. Types of Ex-Girlfriends
  5. Types of perfect boyfriends
  6. Types of perfect girlfriends
And when the BF-GF part is over they switch on to stuff like
7. Types of Mothers
8. Types of Fathers
9. Types of Security guards
10. Types of people in a concert
11. Types of people in a washroom
12. Types of singers
So there are endless topics for them
2017 witnessed a lot of new Indian vine channels on youtube.
Let see if 2018 will witness some new youtube stars or will there be the Ashish, Harsh, BB, Be YouNick domination? Only time will tell as youtube has made rules favoring the big players and discouraged the new youtubers so it will be tough to rise from the new policies set by Youtube.

METACAFE issue - videos appear to be inactive

Are you facing an issue where your videos look to be ‘Inactive’ after successfull upload on Metacafe?
Don’t worry. Not an issue.
Once you successfully upload your video, it takes some minutes or sometimes even 20 minutes for the processing where your video is scanned by Metacafe programs to check for any copyrights, etc. Once processing is completed, you can add custom thumbnail and edit names of your video while your video is inactive.
Your videos are reviewed manually by Metacafe team for a number of things from titles, description, video content, etc. This takes time as Metacafe has its own process and does not have everything advanced like Youtube so be a little patient. It sometimes even takes 1 full week to make your video active and sometimes just few minutes.
Eg. I uploaded a video with title ‘Dawood: The Untold story’ and Metacafe making the video active after 1 day, they changed the title to ‘Daw*od: The Untold story’
Don’t panick if you see your videos ‘Inactive’ for a long time. You can always contact their support team.

Indian Flag v. US Dollar - The lesser known facts

Vs.

Remember last year’s ‘Amazon selling Slippers with Indian Flag themes on it’ which were boycotted by Sushma Swaraj controversy?
There were slippers, shoes and many other products themed with indian flags on it up for sale on Amazon’s site.
Some random person retweeted to Sushma Swaraj and the minister of external affairs demanded amazon to remove all those products with Indian flag as it’s themes and also demanded an apology from Amazon and if denied by Amazon she also threatened them that no further visas will be issued to amazon officials and the issued visas will be cancelled. India being a huge market, Amazon took the matter with utmost concern and removed all those products from all its websites and apologized.
Here, Our national flag was protected from disrespect.
But did you check the ‘Commando 2′(an Indian movie) poster which was released right about the same time?
It had the male lead Vidyut Jamwal running/sprinting on the US currency notes.
I am sure nobody bothered about that poster. But would we not have boycotted that poster if it had Vidyut sprinting on Indian Currency notes or Indian Flag in place of the US Dollar?
If we respect our things, we should also respect others.
US doesn’t mind if some website sells underwears with US national flags as the theme. But if we mind some website like amazon disrespecting our national flag then we should also not disrespect other’s national property.
